IANTD - Recreational Trimix
The IANTD Recreational Trimix course is designed to provide Sport Divers with a helium mixture for extending their dives in Sport diving depths by using Trimix. The programme covers the use of recreational trimix in the range of 28 to 40% oxygen with a Helium content to provide an END no greater than 24msw - effectively reducing the level of narcosis a diver experiences during a typical dive. Divers are qualified to make no-stop dives using Recreational Trimix mixtures to a depth of 30msw or deeper depending upon the students previous qualification level.
The recreational trimix course may be undertaken in standard equipment and does not require the use of a twinset.
The following skills are taught
1. The ability to plan Recreational Trimix dives, enhancing buoyancy control and proficiency in bidy posture underwater for a more streamlined diver profile
2. Configuration of equipment to increase efficiency
3. A gas sharing drill utilising an alternate second stage, while having the out of gas diver swim 12 m to the donor without breathing
4. Perform one gas sharing drill on ascent
